Accomplishments
First Year
Co-Founded Collaborative Commission on Domestic Violence, an innovative approach to breaking generational cycles of abuse.
Second Year
- Worked tirelessly to ensure the Civil Courts never closed during the pandemic, and to keep justice accessible and fair for everyone.
- Joined faculty at St. Mary's University School of Law teaching Trial Advocacy and coaching the award-winning National Mock Trial Team.
- Mentored disadvantaged youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters, career day presentations, and providing court observation opportunities
Third Year
- Created process for judges to order firearm surrender by domestic abusers already prohibited from possessing them under the law.
- Secured $400,000 for cutting-edge civil courts family violence program, including a compliance officer to ensure firearm surrender compliance.
- Co-Founded the Groovy Giving Library at Bexar County Courthouse, the first free library for children visiting the Children's Courts.
Fourth Year
Secured over $500,000 for Bexar County’s first CPS-Domestic Violence Court.
Current
Judge Diaz currently serves on the Bexar County Juvenile Board, and has served as Co-Chair of the joint city-county Collaborative Commission on Domestic Violence since 2019.
